ABOUT US

At Domaine de la Flaguerie, our family's deep connection to the land in Normandy dates back to 1835, when our farm was first established. We proudly continue this legacy as family-owned Calvados producers, working closely with nature to cultivate diverse orchards. These orchards, featuring high-stem trees up to 80 years old and low-stem trees up to 37 years old, yield key apple varieties like Frequin Rouge, Bedant, Petit Jaune, Judor, and Grosse de Bayeux. We craft exceptional spirits from these organic apples, aged in French Oak casks of 350 to 500 litres, mainly from Vicard in Cognac.

Our deep respect for nature and commitment to the future are paramount. All our orchards, spanning approximately 50 hectares with 23,000 apple trees, have been managed organically since 1998. As devoted organic apple farmers, we are committed to sustainable and regenerative farming practices, constantly improving our standards. We are determined to protect our traditions and the nature we manage, ensuring quality and transparency are at the heart of our 'orchard to glass' process. This unwavering commitment to ethical production means every sip embodies our responsibility and love for the land that defines the soul of Normandy heritage.

At Domaine de la Flaguerie, every bottle begins in their organic orchards in Normandy.

Natural Harvest: Domaine de la Flaguerie collects only apples that fall naturally to the ground, ensuring they are fully ripe and rich in flavor.

Fermentation: The juice is slowly fermented into a dry, aromatic cider.

Early Distillation: Domaine de la Flaguerie distills early in a traditional column still to capture the cider’s freshness and finesse.

Aging: The spirit matures in French oak barrels, gaining depth, complexity, and elegance.

Blending & Bottling: Domaine de la Flaguerie's cellar master crafts each blend with care, preserving the character of their orchards and heritage.

From Orchard to Glass:

The Journey of Domaine de la Flaguerie's Calvados

La Flaguerie
2 Year Old

Discover the vibrant essence of Normandy with Domaine de la Flaguerie's youthful 2-year-old Calvados. This spirit perfectly captures the bright, crisp character of Normandy apples. Its straw yellow appearance glows with youth and vibrancy. On the nose, intense aromas of freshly picked apples mingle with delicate floral notes and a touch of acacia honey. A burst of crisp apple dances on the palate, followed by a lingering sweetness and a whisper of vanilla. This exceptional Calvados is wonderfully versatile—perfect neat, in a vibrant cocktail, or as a sophisticated aperitif—a testament to youthful energy and Norman tradition.

We recommend enjoying the crisp, vibrant character of La Flaguerie's Calvados in wonderfully refreshing serves. For a light and invigorating option, combine with soda water and a fresh apple slice; the soda highlights the Calvados' bright apple notes, while the apple slice enhances its natural fruitiness. Alternatively, for a delightful twist, mix Calvados with ginger ale and a fresh mint sprig, where the ginger ale's spice beautifully complements the Calvados' warmth, and the mint adds a fragrant, invigorating lift.

What Does It Mean
to BE Regenerative?

Being regenerative means farming in a way that restores, enriches, and strengthens the land—actively improving ecosystems instead of just preserving them. At Domaine de la Flaguerie, regeneration is at the heart of everything they do:

Being regenerative means farming in a way that restores, enriches, and strengthens the land—actively improving ecosystems instead of just preserving them. At Domaine de la Flaguerie, regeneration is at the heart of everything they do:

Soil regeneration: Domaine de la Flaguerie focuses on building living, organic-rich soils by optimizing ground cover and returning organic matter to the land; all prunings are shredded and recycled into the soil, feeding life below ground.

Replanting for the future: They are actively replanting apple trees and native hedgerows to create and protect natural habitats; these hedges act as biodiversity corridors, sheltering birds, insects, and pollinators.

Permanent ground cover: They manage grass and cover crops to prevent erosion, retain moisture, and support soil microbes year-round.

Biodiversity as a tool: By encouraging a rich web of life—from bees to birds—Domaine de la Flaguerie reduces the need for intervention and lets nature support the balance.

Circular mindset: Nothing is wasted; they reuse nutrients and adapt their practices continuously to strengthen the farm’s natural resilience. To be regenerative is to give more than to take—to work with nature in rebuilding healthier land, stronger ecosystems, and a legacy Domaine de la Flaguerie can be proud of.
